Lembung Paseser Coastal and Marine Biodiversity Reserve
A villager and a guide shucking fresh oysters at the Oysterlicious table in the mangrove creek

Food & nature

Oysterlicious

A 1.5–2 hour oyster experience — harvest and taste fresh oysters in a mangrove creek, build an oyster garden, plant a mangrove, then feast on mud crab in the gazebo.

Oysterlicious combines gastronomy with hands-on nature restoration: taste oysters straight from a mangrove creek, then help restore their habitat.

Itinerary

1. Getting ready (15 minutes) An easy trek to the gazebo, a welcome drink, then into waders and gear.

2. Gastronomy experience (20 minutes) Step down into the creek. Harvest oysters for photos, then enjoy fresh and grilled oysters served on a table in the water.

3. Hands-on restoration (20 minutes) Move to the sediment area to build an oyster garden and plant a mangrove seedling with your name tag.

4. Clean up (15 minutes) Back to the gazebo to take off the waders and rinse hands and feet.

5. Crab feast (30 minutes) Relax in the gazebo with a generous portion of grilled mud crab, receive your e-certificate, and close the session.

Oysters from clean water

Oysters from the reserve have been sampled and tested in a laboratory, and the results show they are free from pollution. CMBR Lembung Paseser is also far from any industrial area, on a coast surrounded by mangroves, coastal forest and coral reef.
